DETAIL SPECIFICATION SHEET
SLEEVES, FASTENER, GROOVED, PROTRUDING HEAD,
SHEAR AND TENSION, 1/32 OVERSIZE
This specification sheet is approved for use by all departments and agencies of the Department of
Defense.
The requirements for acquiring the product described herein shall consist of this specification
sheet and MIL-DTL-85069, "Sleeves, Fastener, General Specification for".
DESIGN INFORMATION: Sleeves covered by this specification sheet are for use in the repair
of discrepant holes and in new design where the holes require protection. The sleeves are
subject to the limitations of MIL-S-85069/1.
REQUIREMENTS: The fastener sleeves shall be as specified herein and in accordance with figure 1.
1. Material. The fastener sleeves shall be manufactured from A286 stainless steel in
accordance with SAE AMS 5525, "Steel, Corrosion and Heat Resistant, Sheet, Strip, and Plate
15Cr - 25.5Ni - 1.2Mo - 2.1Ti - 0.006B - 0.30V 1800 ºF (982 ºC) Solution Heat Treated".
2. Lubrication. The fastener sleeves shall be lubricated with cetyl alcohol or left bare.
L - lubricate with cetyl alcohol
B - no lubrication
3. Protective treatment. The fastener sleeves shall be passivated in accordance with
SAE AMS-QQ-P-35, "Passivation Treatments for Corrosion-Resistant Steel".
4. Plating.
P - Cadmium plating in accordance with SAE-AMS-QQ-P-416, "Plating, Cadmium
(Electrodeposited)", for type I, class 2 exterior only (for identification). Flash
plating on bore acceptable.
N - No finish except passivation in accordance with SAE AMS-QQ-P-35.
5. Dimensions. The enclosures shall be manufactured to the size dimensions listed in figure 1.
